TOP RECOMMENDED PLACES IN PENANG ISLAND

The twoskinnypigs tends to visit places they both deem "extraordinary", repetitively over and over again. Fortunately for us, we do not mind this habit and so in this post thetwoskinnypigs would like to recommend to all our readers the top few eateries we always revisit in Penang Island.

The twoskinnypigs have placed these foodie areas in a convenient sequence according to their operating hours and location proximity. You could just waze their names.

#PIGSTOP 1
Hot Bowl White Curry Mee, Jalan Rangoon
- For lunch, the twoskinnypigs will always head down early to the smack of Georgetown for this little gem before it sells off. Delicious fragrant white broth (im guessing there's coconut milk in it) with a choice of yellow, vermicelli or mixed noodles and a choice of fresh cockles, cubes of pork blood, cuttlefish bits, tofu and etc. The best part of this bowl of noodles is that we are allowed to add as much chili paste into the broth according to your liking, so as spicy lovers, thetwoskinnypigs each scooped almost 3 spoonfulls of chili paste into each of our bowls. However, the best part for us isn't the curry mee but the Steamed Chicken.

The twoskinnypigs highly recommend THIS DISH. Succulent chicken steamed to perfection, even the breast meat portion of the chicken is tender, juicy and full of flavor. Goes really well with their garlic chili.

Price : Curry noodles ranging from RM5-7, Chicken (half) RM20.
Location : 58, Jalan Rangoon, 10400 George Town, Pulau Pinang
Operating hours : 8am-3pm (closed on mondays), be sure to reach before 2pm just incase they sell out

#PIGSTOP 2
Teo Chew Chendul, Lebuh Keng Kwee
- After each meal, it is an essential for the twoskinnypigs to have Dessert!! What would be better than having a quenching bowl of ice cold chendul in the hot mid afternoon, right? So, if your looking for something authentic, this is the place to go. It has been here for a very very very long time I assure you of that. Business is always booming so a umbrella will come in handy while waiting. It is pretty tough to get parking so usually thetwoskinnypigs will park along the road, contributing to the heavy traffic (ops). Usually one of us will go down to queue to get a bowl each (thenotsoskinnypig) while the other sits in the car waiting hungrily. It doesn't take us too long to finish our bowls and we usually return them their bowls in a drive-thru manner.

Price : RM 2.90
Location : 27 & 29 Lebuh Keng Kwee, 10100 Georgetown, Penang
Operating hours : 10am-7pm

#PIGSTOP 3
Hock Seng Rojak
- One of the twoskinnypigs favorite on this list. Thenotsoskinnypig never liked rojak previously but after giving this particular shop a try, this is definitely an exception to that. The reason mainly lies in the gravy. I guess to many, the rojak gravy looks off and odd. Well, DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THIS SAUCE. It is highly addictive. Thick, caramelized, fragrant rojak sauce topped with a generous portion of dried prawns and pounded peanuts. Beneath it, a fresh variety of cut fruits and vegetables. Be sure to finish it quickly before the fruits give out water and there goes the thick gravy, it will become watery which is pretty unpleasant (in my own opinion). There's an option of no chili, normal chili and extra chili. Individual takeaways of the rojak gravy is available here at only RM10, which you can keep for about 2-3weeks.

Price : Small (RM7) , Medium (RM10) and Large (RM14).
Operating hours : 2.30pm-8.30pm

#PIGSTOP 4
Siam Road Char Kuey Teow
- Soon to be known as "wait-sibeh-long Char Kuey Teow". Every time thetwoskinnypigs have to wait approximately over an hour to taste this plate of heaven. Thenotsoskinnypig loves loves loves loves loves Charkueyteow, so its nearly impossible to skip this. And this is the probably the best Charkueyteow thenotsoskinnypig has ever tasted (do let me know if you know of a place more superior than this one). Sadly, the queue is so terrible that it is quite impossible to wait for a plate of noodles anymore.

Price : Small - no egg ( RM5),  Medium (RM6.50), Large (RM7.50)
Location : Jalan Siam, Georgetown, Penang.
Operating hours : Usually after 3.30pm but it is hard to predict when the uncle chooses to open n close.

#PIGSTOP 5
Chinahouse
- Opened from daylight to late nights, Chinahouse is not to be missed. The design of this place is  Amazing. It is long and narrow, and consists of a dessert bar, a restaurant, a winery, an outdoor space and even a bar! Greeted with grey rustic walls and yellow dimmed lights, this place is surely the place to be. The twoskinnypigs will usually end up here at the end of the day to enjoy their huge array of mouth watering cakes and occasionally having a glass or two by the bar while enjoying the live band music. By the way, our favorite is the best seller Tiramisu cake!

One will feel lost upon entering as usually the place will be packed with people and busy waiters walking around. To ensure your table as soon as possible, it is advised to get attention of one of the waiters to note your name down and how many people to be sitted before wandering off. And if you were to choose to sit at the bar area, you would have to choose your desserts beforehand, pay for it and self carry it all the way to the back before finding your own table.

Price : Cakes ranging from RM10-RM20
Location: 153 & 155, Lebuh Pantai and 183B, Lebuh Victoria, Penang.
Operating hours : 9am-2am
