Bali 2018
Welcoming the year 2018 with the twoskinnypigs first trip - BALI, Indonesia
DAY ONE
#PIGSTOP 1
Naughty Nuri's, Seminyak
Headed out in search of more food after having some light breakfast at the hotel.
During our last trip to Bali back in 2016, the twoskinnypig's first encounter with the popular Indonesian pork ribs was at Hog Wild by Chef Bruno and it was an unforgettable meal. So this visit, the first thing to do was to head out in search to satisfy our two-year-old cravings. However, this time at Naughty Nuri's Seminyak.
RECOMMENDED : Naughty Nuri's Signature BBQ Pork Spare Ribs
It was tender, juicy and smothered generously in their special barbeque sauce. Recommended to dip with their spicy BBQ sauce that can be obtained upon request. Otherwise, it goes pretty well with the chili and ketchup sauce provided on the table. After the meal, somehow I still prefer Hog Wild by Chef Bruno's Pork Ribs.
Damage : Averagely MYR40-50 per person
Ambiance : 3/5
Location : Jalan Mertanadi No. 62, Kerobokan, Seminyak
Operating Hours : 1100am-2200pm
#PIGSTOP 2
Price: Averagely MYR20 per person
Ambiance: 4/5
Location: Jalan Batu Belig 79, Gang. Anisa, Kuta Utara, Kerobokan Kelod, North Kuta
Operating Hours: 0800am-0000am
#PIGSTOP 3
Kaum Bali, Potato Head Beach Club, Seminyak
The interior of restaurant, Kaum Bali.
There's a section at the end of the menu for their special sambal sauces. We took the one deemed to be the "spiciest". Which wasn't very spicy. (IDR 30k per sambal)
The twoskinnypigs would like to thank Kaum Bali for the complimentary dessert and remembering my special request.
Price : Averagely MYR70 per person

Gets a little hot in the afternoon and too smokey if you sit near the cooking area.

Strawberry Fields, Seminyak
Approximately 10 to 15 minutes away from Naughty Nuri's, this cafe is quite easy to spot along the road. Greeted by a bright neon signboard, rustic walls, classic tile flooring and lots of greenery. We ordered their Dragon Bowl Z which looked like a bowl of healthy ingredients, I'm guessing pink dragon fruit, frozen bananas topped with mango, kiwi, dried shredded coconut and a variety of seeds. Besides that we had Beer Truffle Fries topped with cheese. Ambiance was great, but food was just simple and ordinary.

Kaum Bali, Potato Head Beach Club, Seminyak
Third stop was dinner. It is important to reserve your seats in advance if you were to dine at any restaurants or bars located at potato head beach club. I repeat, this is a must to ensure your seats. Usually, I make my reservations a month ahead. And if you were to make any amendments to the booking, do let them know, because if you turn up late your seats would be given to someone else. The last visit I had my dinner at Lilin Restaurant, which is now officially closed. So this time, the twoskinnypigs headed to Kaum Bali, which is their newly open restaurant on the second floor that serves authentic Indonesian food. The food, service and ambiance is absolutely flawless.. I would definitely make it an effort to dine here every time I am in Bali.
I recommend to make your reservations at about 6pm, and arrive by 5pm to take a stroll around and enjoy the sunset. After dinner if you do wish to sit around, do let the waiter know if you will be needing a seat in any of the bars. They will reserve a table for you by the time dinner is done.

The unique long sharing table. But not to worry, they have private tables for two and four people at the windows if you do not wish to share table with others.
NASI LIWET IKAN BUMBU HONJE - WEST JAVA (IDR 95k)
Fried yellow tail fish fillet tossed in a not so spicy ginger sauce
& served over baked rice in a clay pot
There's a section at the end of the menu for their special sambal sauces. We took the one deemed to be the "spiciest". Which wasn't very spicy. (IDR 30k per sambal)
AYAM BERANTAKAN - CHEF'S INSPIRATION FROM ACEH (75k)
Basically pan fried chicken topped with toasted spicy coconut flakes, fried garlic, curry leaves and serai - very nicely done
BATAGOR - WEST JAVA (IDR 70k)
Super crispy fried prawn & fish dumplings tossed in a spicy cashew nut sauce
with sweet soy sauce, the sauce beneath was so good.
The twoskinnypigs would like to thank Kaum Bali for the complimentary dessert and remembering my special request.

Ambiance: 5/5
Location: Potato Head Beach Club, Petitenget No.51, Seminyak, Kuta Utara

DAY TWO
Rented a driver for the day to explore the outskirts. Billy Bali, our trusted driver took us around. We previously took his services in 2016 and due to his excellent services, honest pricing and humble personality, we decided to hook him up once again to be our driver. His price is IDR 450,000 for 10 hours/day, including petrol. However, I am not too sure if the price may vary if you decide to travel to further places. But not to worry, his prices are very reasonable and honest.

Titir Empul Temple
Billy picked us up at 11am from our hotel and we headed to Titir Empul Temple which was an hour drive away. It started raining heavily when we reached but umbrellas were readily available for rent at the entrance for just MYR 2. A small entry fee was also required upon entering the temple and all visitors are required to wear a sarong prior to entering.
Locals and foreigners bathing with holy water. The locals say that drinking water from here can cure illness. The water source is located in the temple itself, coming from the ground.
Price : IDR 15k
Ambience : 4/5
Location : Jalan Tirta, Manukaya, Tampaksiring, Manukaya
#PIGSTOP 5
Tegalallang Rice Terrace, Ubud
Due to the rain we were not able to visit this tourist attraction, but managed to snap a few pictures along our journey. The rice terrace gets muddy and slippery during rain and after rain so it isn't recommended to plan to go there on a rainy day. There were lots of scenic restaurants along the rice terrace, so it would be quite easy to get a good shot while eating.
#Pigstop 9
Motel Mexicola, Seminyak
After returning from our very satisfying roof top dining, we headed back to Seminyak feeling not so tired. So here we go again... This place is a definite must for those who loves the night life. The twoskinnypigs were amazed by the amount of people, in addition to the dancing and ambience. It was mentioned that Motel Mexicola also opens in the afternoon for Mexican food, however, the night allows the place to become alive. Let's have the picture do the talking.
Ambience: 9/10
Price: 6/10
#Pigstop 10
MAMASAN Kitchen Bar & Lounge, Seminyak
A random selection of lunch begins here. Food was not bad, but easily found in Malaysia.
#Pigstop 11
La Brisa, Canggu
Before calling it a day and heading back to Malaysia, the twoskinnypigs decided to make one last pigstop to La Brisa, Canggu. Getting to Canggu is quite easy - just hopping into a cab and heading there. But one should plan the way back as well, because getting a cab back to town from Canggu is pretty tough. It is nearly impossible to flag down a taxi, so going by a tour guide would be ideal. However, you may hire a car on the way back but the price would be rather steep.
No regrets, absolutely spectacular place.
They do charge a minimum spending per head. So be sure to go on a rather empty stomach.

Thank you Bali for an amazing trip!

Price : I read on other blogs to carry some small change in the pockets while you walk further into the rice terrace, as it might be required to tip the owner of the paddy fields you walk in.
Location : Jalan Tegallalang, Tegallalang
#PIGSTOP 6
Bebek Tepi Sawah
Deciding between Bebek Tepi Sawah and Bebek Bengil was a tough one. Finally, the twolittlepigs decided Bebek Tepi Sawah as it seemed that they have a better scenery.
RECOMMENDED : TEPI SAWAH'S CRISPY OR GRILLED DUCK
The duck was fried till crisp, not too hard, giving each bite a little crunch. Together with their sambal, this meal was the best that we had in our trip. Will definitely be back for more!
The scenery while having lunch. There were a couple of workers harvesting the paddy with the traditional way, using a "parang-knife".
The signature
TEPI SAWAH CRISPY OR GRILLED DUCK (IDR 115k)
with choice of 3 sambals. Their sambals are the bomb.
IKAN MUJAIR NYAT NYAT TEPI SAWAH (IDR 90k)
#PIGSTOP 7
Ubud Art Market
One of the popular markets to visit in Bali, this market is not to miss. Beautifully located in the central of Ubud, this traditional balinese market is filled with vibrant colors, noisy stalls and bustling with tourists. It became even more popular since the "Eat, Pray, Love" movie starring Julia Roberts.
TIP WHILE SHOPPING : While shopping, if you see an item that you really want, first rule is to remain as calm as possible. Secondly, ask for the price. Third, bargain at least 50% of the price given. Forth, continue bargaining and pretend that you are walking away. Fifth, don't sulk if the shop owner does not stop you and give in to your price, cause there are a lot of shops that will offer you a better price. Keep looking!
Beautiful dream catchers
